The home of Auburn Tigers baseball for nearly 80 years, Plainsman Park is one of the most quaint and intimate Power 5 ballparks in the nation. The stadium currently boasts a seating capacity of 4,096 – a figure that makes it pale in comparison to some of its larger SEC counterparts – yet despite its relatively compact size, the park here on the Plains has served as one of the most legendary fields in all of college baseball.

Opened in 1950, Plainsman Park has been renovated and revamped on several occasions since. The venue was brought into the modern age with massive overhauls in 1996 and 2001, while nearly constant expansions and remodels since 2016 have helped propel the ballpark even further into the national spotlight. The latest round of additions, which includes a completely reimagined first base seating area, is expected to wrap up in time for the start of the 2025 season and will solidify Plainsman Park’s status as a premier college baseball venue.

One cool new spot is the Back Forty Deck, a boardwalk-like area outside the ballpark gates where fans can gather and catch a few innings. Developed in 2024, the deck is located just beyond the right field fence and is free for both the Tiger faithful and anyone else who may happen to pass by. Another unique – and free – vantage point for spectators is the Stadium Parking Deck which overlooks the third base side. Prior to and during games, Auburn fans like to hangout, tailgate and socialize on the structure’s upper levels, which offer a clear view of the entire field.

Back inside the ballpark, the successes of the Auburn baseball program are written all across the venue’s façade. The team has made over two dozen appearances in the NCAA Tournament over the years – including six trips to the College World Series – with most of these great accomplishments emblazoned on Plainsman Park’s iconic 37-foot left field wall. The wall also features the words “War Eagle”, a nod to the iconic chant commonly heard after every Auburn home run, with fans yelling out “Waaaaar…….” as the players round the bases and exclaiming a triumphant “Eagle!” when when homer-hitting runner finally crosses home.

The Tigers have produced several standout players who have gone on to successful professional careers, including Hall of Famer Frank Thomas, who has a statue just outside the main gate. Other notable former Tigers include Gregg Olson and Tim Hudson, both outstanding MLB pitchers.

Whether it’s the team’s on-field achievements, the passionate Tiger fanbase or the rich history that permeates every corner of Plainsman Park, the home of Auburn baseball continues to shine as a source of pride and excitement for fans on the Plains. And as the program continues to write new chapters in its storied legacy, the future of this hallowed college ballpark only grows brighter.

“Plainsman Park is one of the nation’s most quaint and intimate Power 5 ballparks”. It should be Power 4! The Pac-12 is no longer considered a Power Conference!
