📍 Columbus, Ohio
⚾ Home of the Columbus Clippers
Often ranked as one of the top ballparks – major or minor league – in the country, Huntington Park has been the home of the Triple-A Columbus Clippers since it opened in 2009. With its rich amenities and unique design, the 10,000-seat stadium is a crucial part of the city’s Arena District and worthy grounds for the Cleveland Guardians’ top affiliate.
Prior to the opening of their new downtown facility, the Clippers contested their first thirty years at old Cooper Stadium, entertaining crowds there from their inception in 1977 to the venue’s final season in 2008. The barebones concrete and steel ballpark, having opened in 1931, was a rundown and miserable stadium near the end of its life, despite being a mainstay of Columbus’ baseball landscape.

When it debuted, Huntington Park was a prime example of the new wave of contemporary, center city minor league ballparks that became popular in the early 2000s. That trend continues to this day, but few have done it quite as well as Columbus. Although fans can’t do a full 360-degree lap around the concourse, the overall aesthetic and layout of the ballpark – in addition to its beautiful outfield skyline view – make it an enjoyable and exciting place to catch a ballgame as you mingle with friends. One of the stadium’s coolest aspects is the Left Field Building, which boasts an open bar on the first floor, relaxing patios on the second story and rooftop bleachers on the third level. Called the AEP Power Pavilion, this unique area of seating reminds folks of the out-of-ballpark bleachers at Wrigley Field and Busch Stadium – truly a major league amenity in a minor league setting.

Elsewhere on the concourse is the Victory Bell, which traces its origin back to an old Columbus firehouse. It was donated to an old minor league club in the 1950s and has been rung to celebrate victories by the city’s baseball teams ever since. The Bell now resides with the Clippers, who themselves have had plenty of victories to record. The team clinched 7 league titles during their longtime affiliation with the New York Yankees, including a three-peat from 1979-81. The Clippers won four more crowns with the Indians – now the Guardians – highlighted by back-to-back Triple-A Championships in 2010 and 2011.
As a preeminent International League venue, Huntington Park has had the privilege of hosting both the Triple-A All-Star Game and Triple-A National Championship Game. The two events were held in Columbus during the 2018 season, a monumental year for the team and the city. And with the continued success of the Clippers as a ballclub and an entertainment draw, it’s clear Columbus won’t cease to knock it out of the park.
