Five years ago today, Just Means Less began as only an idea — a playful jab at the rival SEC’s motto, “It just means more.” Micah Beutell had the spark, launching a podcast and social media presence through Fifth Quarter ACC during the early days of the pandemic. Micah was working for the ACC at the time, less than two weeks removed from Florida State cutting down the nets in an empty Greensboro Coliseum after an abrupt end to the ACC Tournament and the shutdown of the sports world. From that uncertain moment, something special was born.

Micah started the podcast alongside Dan Siegel before eventually teaming up with Nick Dioli a year later. Monty Taylor later joined the team, completing the trio that would shape Just Means Less into what it is today. The podcast initially focused on the big three — football, men’s basketball, and baseball — but over time, football and baseball became the central focus. Baseball’s rise in coverage was bolstered by a partnership with College Baseball Central, an organization founded by Noah Darling.

Micah set out to visit every ACC football and baseball stadium, completing the baseball stadium circuit during the 2024 season – just before Cal and Stanford joined the conference for baseball. Monty plays a dual role — in front of the mic for the baseball podcast and behind the scenes for football — crafting graphics for both sports and traveling throughout the ACC for baseball games in the spring and fall. Nick serves as the co-host for both football and baseball while also managing his family’s popular business, Dioli’s. The Italian deli – located in Winston-Salem, North Carolina – not only feeds locals and Wake Forest athletes but also has fueled Micah, Monty, and Nick during their busy seasons.

The 2025 football season brought two new additions to the team, Savanah Tujague and Alex Hou, as both have stepped up to fill in on the recap and preview shows. Both come in with prominent social media followings of their own – Savanah’s X account has grown to nearly 12K followers, while Stanford Football Updates sits at about 4,500. Savanah also hosts her own ACC football show on YouTube’s Total Coverage Sports, and Alex is a cohost of Cardinal Chronicles, a podcast covering Stanford Athletics. One thing is for certain: the Just Means Less brand keeps expanding, and bringing in voices like Savanah and Alex only strengthens what the team has already built.

A lot has changed in five years. Micah has lived in four different states. Monty has helped transform the podcast into a visual identity with live streams on X, complete with graphics and live fan interaction. Nick’s addition of Just Means Less stickers inside Diolis to pick up with a Chicken Parm or Italian Beef Sandwich has helped to make them a must-have accessory — they’ve been handed out from Boston to Raleigh to Dallas to Berkeley as the ACC expanded from the Atlantic to the Pacific Coast.

The X account has grown to over 10,000 followers, with Just Means Less providing on-site coverage at the ACC Football Championship in Charlotte and multiple trips to Omaha for the College World Series, bringing firsthand coverage to ACC fans across the country.

The ACC has seen its share of highs and lows over the past five years, and the future of the conference remains uncertain. But one thing is certain: Nick, Monty, Savanah, Alex and Micah will remain laser-focused on providing top-notch analysis, commentary, and hot takes on all 18 ACC schools. Whether behind the mic, on social media or with boots on the ground, Just Means Less ACC has come to mean more to everyone who loves the Atlantic Coast Conference.
