📍 College Park, Georgia
🏀 Home of the College Park Skyhawks
Like several teams around the league, the NBA’s Atlanta Hawks are fortunate enough to have their G-League development team located just down the road. Future Hawks stars compete as members of the fledgling College Park Skyhawks, who play out of Gateway Center Arena in the Atlanta suburbs. The arena, which is near the airport and easily accessible via public transit, is less than 11 miles from the Hawks’ home at State Farm Arena.
The Skyhawks’ story began in 2017, when the team was conceptualized as the second iteration of the Erie BayHawks, with plans to move the team within a few years. Based out of Pennsylvania’s Flagship City, the BayHawks played two seasons at Erie Insurance Arena before settling in to their permanent home in College Park in 2019.
Construction of Gateway Center Arena was completed that same year, providing a permanent home to both the Skyhawks and the WNBA’s Atlanta Dream. The venue holds 3,500 for basketball, though it was designed to seat up to 5,000 people or more for concerts.

Amongst its G-League peers, the Skyhawks have probably one of the best gameday presentations. A live DJ keeps the energy going from the moment you step foot in the arena until the very end of any post-game festivities. The team also really plays up the “Southside” identity of the team and entertains fans in so many different ways throughout the game. From multiple mascots to on-court contests to giveaways and t-shirt tosses, the Skyhawks really take advantage of every fan engagement opportunity available. It all pays off in a big way, creating a great atmosphere for fans to watch some of NBA’s stars of tomorrow.

During Skyhawks games, an exclusive VIP zone is set up at court level beyond the basket. This space is a great spot to grab a drink, mingle or otherwise relax and soak everything in, all while being close to the action.
Gateway Center Arena is also somewhat unique from a public transit perspective. Whether you’re coming from elsewhere in Atlanta via the MARTA system, or from the nearby Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport, the venue is directly served by the free ATL SkyTrain. This automated people-mover runs 24/7 between the airport, rental car center and the convention center area where Gateway Center Arena is situated.
